Girls Not Brides: The Global Partnership to End Child Marriage

Girls Not Brides is a global partnership of 1,360 members in over 100 countries. We are civil society organisations committed to working together to end child marriage. A total of 228 new members joined the Partnership in 2019 – a growth of 20% whichdemonstrates continued interest in working together to realise our vision of a world without child marriage. We work with national civil society coalitions to end child marriage in a number of countries. These coalitions work alongside governments and other actors to develop, implement
and monitor national strategies to end child marriage; raise public awareness on the harmful impacts of child marriage; and share information and learnings on the solutions to end child marriage.

During 2019, Girls Not Brides continued to drive, catalyse and support change at all levels: global, regional, national and local. Our achievements during the last year include increasing our work with member organisations and partners in Latin America and the Caribbean and in Francophone Africa; strengthening members’ advocacy and campaigning skills; and exploring how different actors can better work together to address child marriage in humanitarian contexts. Girls Not Brides has also started deepening its engagement in key geographies, to help speed up change in countries with high rates of child marriage.
