Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance

Gavi’s overall mission: “to save children’s lives and protect people’s health by increasing equitable use of vaccines in lower income countries.” is fully aligned with the new Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescent’s health.

In support of the implementation of the Global Strategy, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance commits to accelerate equitable uptake and coverage of vaccines and to increase effectiveness and efficiency of immunization delivery as an integrated part of strengthened health systems between 2016 and 2020. Gavi also commits to improve the sustainability of national immunization programmes.

The anticipated result of this commitment is that, through a partnership with Gavi, developing countries will be able to immunise an additional 300 million children between 2016 and 2020, helping to save an estimated five to six million lives.
