Non-Communicable Diseases and Injuries: Closing the Gap for the Poorest Billion

The Lancet Commission on Reframing NCDs and Injuries for the Poorest Billion (Lancet NCDI Poverty Commission) is pleased to invite you to a global virtual event that aims to launch the Commission’s report and spark a new movement around one of the world’s biggest and most neglected health disparities: NCDIs that kill and disable millions of people in the poorest countries.

The event will stream live on Tuesday, 15 September, from 9:00 am – 10:30 am EDT | 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm GMT

The event is timed to coincide with the publication of the Lancet Commission report, which provides the clearest picture yet of the burden of NCDs and injuries on the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people and calls for urgent action to address it. It will feature a presentation of the report’s key findings and recommendations, followed by lively discussions among political leaders, health experts and senior multilateral leaders about how the global community can stand in solidarity with the poorest, especially as they face grave risks from COVID-19.

We hope to shine a spotlight on life-saving and cost-effective solutions for NCDIs of poverty that can be delivered as part of a comprehensive commitment to universal health coverage. We will also launch the NCDI Poverty Network to mobilize greater funding and political commitment for the health of the poorest billion.

We look forward to your participation in this important event.
